I headed out Saturday (Sept. 30th, 2023) evening at about 8pm for the journey to SeaTac airport for an Alaska Airlines direct flight to Reno departing at 7 am the next morning. The long drive more than 1/2 way done, I stop at the Skagit Hotel Casino in Washington State (not far south of Bellingham).
Played a little on an interesting variation of Video Poker there and had a moderate win that dwindled away over about a half hour.
Got to SeaTac early and the flight left for Reno at 7:15. Woo-Hoo, really now on my way!
Checked in to the Eldorado. And walked out onto Virginia St. on a quiet Sunday morning ...
Met John at the Pep later that afternoon for an intense VisitReno strategy session.
Dinner at my favorite restaurant - Oceano.
Back downtown. Still a pretty quiet Reno at 10pm
Next morning - Cal Neva steak and Eggs. Not bad, not bad at all. ($9.99).
A nice IPA at the Brew Brothers
The days kinda merged into one after this
The Peppermill (and a few contrails).
Silver Legacy Lobby
Depressing Downtown
An interesting little curiosity; Lauren Bacall's handprint on the side of the old Harrahs building
A couple of Spin Poker wins at the Pep
At the bar just outside the Oceano
And in the morning on my last day in town at the Eldorado
For lunch on that last day I treated myself to a bowl of Pho soup at the Golden Flower Vietnamese Restaurant. It's right behind the second Circus Circus tower. I hadn't been in there for many, many years. At 12:30 pm it was moderately busy. My Pho soup was delicious!
Flying back to reality later that night. What a great relaxing trip! (Pyramid Lake in the distance.) Loved the flights - Thanks Alaska airlines!

Thanks Zydeco! I sure had fun taking all those pictures. Can't believe I got that many 4 of a kinds - really helped the win/loss ratio! Hope to return early next year. |
