Harrah’s Reno is scheduled to unveil a new table game known as Blackjack Switch on the casino floor, Friday, Dec. 8, 2006. The addition of Blackjack Switch follows a year of exclusive gaming additions found nowhere else in downtown Reno.

Blackjack Switch is a blackjack variant, which allows the player to do what is normally considered a classic cheating maneuver: trading cards between two hands. The player must make two bets of equal size and is allowed to switch the second card dealt to each hand. Of course nothing comes free; a “Dealer 22” results in a push and blackjacks pay even money.

The Wizard of Odds gives it a 0.16 - 0.18 house advantage depending of how many decks are used.

From everything that I've read about any blackjacks that are paid less than $3/2, off the bat I'd say this game certainly is in the house's interest, and not ours. Frankly I haven't seen blackjack that I like in any Harrah's establishments in a long time.

Wow John sounds like fun to me. It will be interesting to see how the game does. While I love to play black jack and will only do so on tables paying 3-2 I would love to hear one of our # gurus tell us how much more it is for the house odds?! Not something I can help with though.

John have you ever made it over to the Siena to play that happy hour black Jack? Not sure if that is exactly what it is called but I read about it on one of their fliers and would love to hear from someone that actually played the game. Man I miss Reno! Confused

No, Dave. The only time I venture into the Siena is when Jerry or JD or some other Siena fan is in town. I don't think I've played a hand of blackjack in 15 years. Used to study the game and played as a business.

Blackjack Switch has been around Las Vegas for quite some time. It is a deceptive ripoff. It appears to have a low house edge, but the problem is that the typical player will not come remotely close to the complicated basic strategy for it. The average player will play at a 2 to 3% disadvantage. Stay far, far away. With all the good blackjack in the Reno area, there is no reason to set foot in Harrah's.

It is only $25 max and the table is packed with folks playing coins. You are lucky if you can get 60 hands in an hour. Though I am glad to see Siena offering something to the customers, this promo is a total waste of time.
