I'll be there part of that weekend, but will return to Las Vegas on an early Sunday afternoon flight. Curious as to why you ask who will be there?

Ah, that would be a splendid venue for America's favorite sports match - I would guess that the Cal-Neva would be the most raucous, although that might not be everyone's cup of tea.

Heck, with that monstrous new sports area, I should think the Pep would - once again - be "The place to be".

I just got an email from the Pep, for a Super Bowl party for $40, including beer and buffet. If the weather holds out, we'll probably make it.

Technically, it's the "Super Bash" party. No business is supposed to be able to use the name "Super Bowl" without the NFL's permission.

Ah, yes - the legal-thingy surrounding that name - I think it would be fun to host a Waterford Crystal party on that day, with an exhibition - largely limited to a display case way off in the back, and some appropriate prizes - and bill it as "SUPER Party with BOWLs!!!" with the letters appropriately enlarged where necessary, or maybe have it at the National Bowling Stadium there in the downtown, and call it a "SUPER BOWLing Party!", or some such other play on words.

How about re-labeling the men's room during such events, to "SUPER BOWeLing Room"?

Okay, I'll stop now.

I had a acouple offers. Also had a new type of offer from Fitz for a wine tasting party. Also a N'Awlins Party (Mardy Grass) about that time.
Alas, I will (hopefully, if planes fly) be in Denver for my granddaughter/s wedding.

Looks like March before I hit town again. Another big ALASSSSSS.

It may be a little late to plan for Sunday, but this morning's RGJ published a listing of most of the Super Bowl events in Reno. It's in the free Best Bets magazine on the racks at the airport or in most of the casinos, hotels and news stands around town, or you can see it on line at this link:

According to the article linked by Remano, a portion of South Virginia Street is to be blocked off for a big party - I must admit, I've never heard of this before; is it new? I've heard the tales of Hot Summer Nights and such, but not a Superbowl-Virgina St. extravaganza.

I suppose I'm a little nuts for thinking that this sounds really fun, but since there's next to no chance of my going there, I guess I can imagine whatever I like.

Anyone who wanders into this on Sunday for whatever reason, be sure to write a trip report!

Remember Woodsy? He was a SUPERB OWL.

According to the article it is billed as the "First Annual" tailgate party. It might also be the last because the weather forecast for this weekend is looking pretty pessimistic. If it bombs they might not try it again.

And, I do remember Woodsy. As I recall, he created quite a flap for a while.

Unfortunately, I will be on a flight back to Las Vegas just as the "festivities" are scheduled to begin. I possibly will be downtown early Sunday morning; if there's anything worth reporting, I'll do it.

Just wish to say that no less than FIVE (count 'em, I said FIVE) former members of the Marshall Thundering Herd football team (my alma mater) will participate in the super bowl. that is amazing for a small town and small college in the Appalachian Hills to have five players in the game. And each team has an offensive star from Marshall.
Watch it and root for me and for my boys.
Especially Randy Moss and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Go Patriots. Randy Moss for MVP...............
He really is a great guy and does a lot for kids. He was recently named MAN of the YEAR in WVa for all his civic projects .

It was indeed cold and miserable. I saw crowds lining Virginia Street, and was annoyed that it interfered with my east to west attempt to cross the street in my rental car. It was too cold for me to bother going to check it out, especially in view of the fact that I had to try to squeeze an extra day's productivity and EV into a shortened trip. I flew back to Las Vegas a day early to get out before the arrival of the predicted snowstorm.
