I am having some intermittent difficulty in logging on to this site. Sometimes, there is no problem (like now). Other times, it sends the progress bar across and nothing happens. I have my log-in and password saved, and use the same one when I'm successful as when I'm not, so I don't think that's the problem.

Any ideas as to what my problem might be?

Don't know what to tell you, Larry. I've had no problems with it.

Anyone else have trouble logging in?

No problem logging on, John. But I am having a difficult time keeping my mouth shut when I read those posts about Shooters. Ya ya...what goes on in Reno, yadda yadda.......

We need some big win stories...Alison, it's up to YOU.

Larry: I have dial up with that phoney " Accelerator" option. When I have that accelerator activated, I sometimes get the same effect you describe. It works great for fast REPEAT visits, but sometimes stumbles when going to a new site or one that has had cookies purged when doing a clean up.

Also you may have security setting set a little too secure.

Just a thought.

It's been going on for a few weeks, but it seems to be getting worse. After I got the e-mail saying that there had been a response to my question, it took me over an hour to be able to log in to post this response.

I guess patience is really a virtue.

A couple of other things: defrag hard drive, get Windows updates (I'm assuming you're on a Windows machine), check hard drive space (should generally be half empty (or half-full, depending on how optimistic you are, sorry, couldn't resist)), try accessing the site on a different computer just for the sake of comparison.
Do you have this experience trying to get to other websites?

Those are the prelims; I find that my machine behaves the way you describe, but that's because it's jammed full of mp3 files and whatnot.

Actually, it happens on both my Dell (8200) and my Mac G4. However, it does seem to happen more on the Mac. Both machines have ample hard drives (I keep my mp3's on a separate drive). I've not had the problem with other sites.

I'll keep playing. It may be a corrupt cookie or something like that.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I think I found the problem. After I tossed my cookies (no, not like when I was in high school; the Internet kind), it seems to be working well. Oddly enough, the cookie file on both the Dell and the Mac seemed to be corrupted, so I threw them both out.

At any rate, it's working!

Thanks for all the replys.

Glad to hear that worked.

It's always fun to use the "Toss my cookies" phrase whenever possible, isn't it??

Larry, I gotta assure you: I have seen John without his shirt. HE IS NOT TOPLESS. Wow, you should see him on top of the bar at S------s (for you, JD. I didn't say the word...What happens in Reno, stays in Reno*).

ed. note: *Unless of course you break out in a rash and severe itching after you get home. In that case, what happened in Reno likely followed you home.
(It's OK, BCD, I didn't mention your name.)

I don't want to interfer with an on-going SPCA investigation. Animals have dignity, too, you know.

Sorry, JD, if our Shooters banter has been annoying you. It's basically just three of us having an ongoing laugh over a misadventure we had there back in November. We'd hoped that others might get a chuckle out of it too. If you're in Reno May 1st to 4th I'll buy you a beer as way of restitution....guess where!
