Hi,
I am going to write a quick little trip report for you all.
We flew via SW air into Reno on Tues the 7th. Now i hate to fly. Because this was a really quick trip we kinda had to fly. Our flight from Seattle was EMPTY!!! The plan had only 49 people on it. I could not believe it. The flight from seattle is so quick. I dont know what we have been thinking driving all these years. The one good thing about driving is you have a car to use whnever you want.
So we landed and waited for what seemed forever to get on the Peppermill shuttle. Used Vip check in which was quick and easy. Ended up with a room on the 9th floor. Room was in good shape, except for the handles on the bathroom sink leaked water all over. The one good thing was we were in a room that was close by to the bank of elevators that drop you right into the casinol That was very convenient.
The casino/hotel actually seemed kinda busy. I was suprised being that it was mid week and all.
During our trip we ate at the Steakhouse twice and Romanza once. The portions at he Romanza are huge! Definetely worth the money. I think the food there is really good personally. Steakhose is great as well.
Gambling was up and down. I could not win anything on my infamous Pinball. I love that darn game. I did well at one sitting playing Shake your Booty. I had it up to $700.00. The thing kept hitting and hitting. I also did well on the Munsters. Other wise, everytime i put a $20.00 in, it seemed like it was gone ina flash most of the time. I have said this before, but i will say it again. I hate how so many of the machines are now 15, 20 and 25 lines. What is up with that. i guess they want you to loose quicker so you can for k more money in. All the video slots at the Pep are multi denomination. I usually play .05. I know most of you regulars know that, but for the lurkers or people who have never been there, they might like to know that. You can play either .01, .02,.05 and .10 on most of them. I also tried card a few times, but just had no luck. You know the scenario, you have a 20, dealer ends up with 5 cards eqaulling 21. Or you double down on a 11 and get a 3 or something lame like that. Never fails. Usually i can do well on cards, but not this trip. Oh well. Still had fun.
The one think that really was a bummer was everytime we went to dinner, we wanted to bring leftovers to the room. We had no way to heat it up, so we thought. Our last day there we were walking by a room that was being cleaned and the door was opened and we saw a microwave. We could not believe it. Next time we are there, we are requesting one. For those of you who don't know, you can also request a coffee maker and they will bring you one, alone with lots of coffee for free. You just have to call housekeeping. Lots of hotels will do that.
Another thing that the Peppermill needs to do is change the music they play in the casino. Or at least add some other variety. They have no current music. Heck even the disco 70's music would be better then the stuff they play. Not everyone in the casino likes old country or 50's.
I was ready to leave by the last day. The night before i could not sleep. We stayed out until about 5:00 am and i was up by 10:00. All i could hear was the theme to the Munsters slot palying over and over in my head. I was going crazy. Probably becasue i sat on the same machine for about 4 hours. Did not get up once. Its pretty bad when your getting neck cramps. You know you've been there way to long. i was really sick that last day. Throwing up and tummy issues. Not fun! I felt like such s**t. We had an 8:00 pm flight so i had some time to rest which was nice.
All in all it was a great trip. I ended up a looser, but oh well. All my food was comped and so was my room. Our flight home had only 100 people on it. Little bit fuller but still not full. I was suprised that there were that many people on the flight being that it was an 8:00 pm flight on a friday night.
I am excited to see how the remodel of the tower rooms turn out. They should be getting started on that soon.
If anyone has any questions feel free to ask. My next trip will be near the end of July for about a week.

Great Trip report, looks like you arrived on the day I left
Couldn't agree more with you regarding the music being piped-in at Peppermill. I swear if I hear Ain't no Mountain High Enough by Michael Mcdonald one more time I am going to shoot someone!!!!!
I was told that Peppermill has 3 limos usually sitting around not doing much, and if your atleast a gold level player chances are they will pick you up at the airport (instead of waiting for a shuttle) just ask the VIP desk the next time you make reservations. |

Thanks for the report Alison!
LOL, I know what you mean about hearing the slot in your head. This always happens to me! Especially after a night of heavy drinking.
Sorry to hear you weren't feeling well. This happened to me last year. I drank, way, way too much and had to get on the plane at 1 PM. I thought I was going to hurl on the shuttle to the airport....lol. It was awful!
I also have a Gold card, but have never asked for the limo from the airport, since we usually rent a car.
Thanks for the review on Romanza, I've been wanting to try it, but we always end up at the Steakhouse for our "nice" dinner, then in the food court or coffee shop for other meals.
We'll be up there this weekend (staying at Harrahs) and I hope to get down to the Pep to use my free play.
Did notice any new slots??? |

Erin,
Definetley try the Romanza. I think it is really good. It is much less expensive then the Steakhouse.
I don't think i really noticed nay new slots. Nothing is really sticking out in my mind.
Yeah it was highly annoying trying to sleep with the theme song of the munsters running thru my head.

Just found your trip report. Nice job, and it sounds like you had a good time. Yes, I stayed on Wed the 8th, so we were there at the same time. It started to snow on Thurs- kind of cool, but I had to drive home over Donner Summit. Thanks goodness for a big 4 WD truck.
I recognize you from other LV boards. I haven't seen you on VW in a long time. Thinks are going down hill over there. |
