If you're planning a trip to Reno, you may want to rethink it.

And it's really cold. It's 15 degrees right now (about 7:30 am) and the snow is supposed to last all day. I'm glad I stocked up on food yesterday.

Lucky you! Its 19 here in the seattle area. No snow though. Is this gonna be like the snow you got a few years ago?? Smile

I am scheduled to fly to Reno this week. I see predictions of eleven degrees a couple of nights this week, with highs in the thirties. Makes the cold Las Vegas nights (34 degrees last night at my house up in the hills) seem warm. I may reschedule this trip; thanks for posting.

Two days off from work but well stocked bar. Haven't lost a dime on tables or machines yet.

Just surfin the webcams ( http://167.131.0.179/popups/Cam.asp?camera=658&curRegion=4 ) . THAT's Willamette Pass ...my route to Reno.

Any Reno webcams, John?

Visitreno anyway I'd say. Nothing's as comforting on an icy winter night as a big warm casino. Coffee and Baileys , winter ales, comfort food mmmm. And if you're lucky, another storm hits, your flight gets canceled and you have an extended stay! WoooHooo! (OK, disregard this advise if you're driving hundreds of miles.)

So come on John, fire up that 4WD unit of yours and get on over to the Pep. It's Tuesday for $%&*'s sake!

It's minus 7 degrees up here in the Great White North. 'course that celcius.

Wow, enjoyed the pics. Thanks.
Don't think I can possibly get there. Offers suck anyway. Pep has cut me way back so that I won't go back until/unless they get better.
Got offer today from Eldo. Yeah! One night and a 2-1 buffet. Yippee.

Still the Atlantis has offered virtually every night in Dec and Jan FREE.
Can be used every week.
Last trip I signed for GSR card and never heard a word back.

Laughlin amazes me. I played like crazy there in fall, yet haven't had an offer since last summer. My wife hardly played at all and is getting much better offers. They even offered her New Years with fancy meal, etc., with all the trimmings.

Amazing the people who run these places.

BTW, broke 111 year record going back 3 centuries with 16 Monday morn. Lower this morning and staying that way. No snow of course but rain is predicted later this week.

So, regardless of the snow, Reno is not in my plans.

And BCD, (as much as I respect you) I can't take your advice. We went to Reno last Dec and got stuck for THREE extra weeks before the roads opened to us to return to Oregon. My wife was a Krazy Kamper.

Man that looks like fun John!
It is 100 degrees plus here in HOT Sumatra, Indonesia.
No where NEAR any Casino - Heck not even one of those
DUMB Indian Casinos! I am looking forward to
heading back to our home in WA state and back to my trips
to Reno after this school year.
I get a kick out of reading all of your posts and trip reports.
Hope you all get back there soon. John I know you never asked
but I agree you ought to head out in that snow. Warm in the
Casino pal!

Very Happy

Well, it was almost 100 degrees here in Reno last night. It fell short by only 102 degrees. Luckily, the temperature is predicted to soar to a cooking hot 21 this afternoon.

Actually, I did venture out yesterday to get food for my hibernation. Bought a bottle of Francovich Holiday Nog to enjoy with a rack of baby back ribs covered with Woody's Sweet 'n Smoky barbeque sauce.

I was going to ride my bicycle over to D & D Dismantlers for some car parts while trying out my new Bar Mitts, but had a flat tire. The roads are too icy to run up to Sierra City to visit my friends at the Yuba River Inn, so I was thinking of taking a self guided tour of the historic Lake Mansion or have a quick workout at The Playground, yeah, right!

Since the only other option that comes to mind is a Vegas run and staying at the Clarion Emerald Springs, I think I'll just stay in Reno and go say hi to the fine folks at the Chapel of the Bells Wedding Chapel and pick up a trinket at Horseshoe Jewelry and Loan.

Damn, I must be bored when I have to resort to shameless self-promotion. Hell with it - Peppermill, here I come.

John, Glad to hear you mulled over the possiblities before settling on the right answer.
Jerry, I'd have thought getting stuck in Reno would make life easier for you. None of those annoying travel plans, long drives etc.

Hey Swede, I now have more than that. We got a few more inches last night. I'm thinking of moving to Vegas. Too much snow. My life is hell. Kill me.

OK, that is 4 times 3 equals 12. I understand.

(What did the doc say about the frost-bite?)
