I seem to have more time than money these days, so I came up with a brilliant idea. In checking over my casino offers I found I have at least 10 casinos offering me free lodging varying from a single night to multiple 5 night stays. In counting up the free rooms, I stopped counting at 40 free nights for January! Idea Hence- my idea. I will sell my house and everything else, and keep only enough stuff to live out of a suitcase. No more house payments, insurance, property tax, utilities bills, mowing the lawn, maintenance, etc.

A little traveling around Nevada will provide all my lodging requirements, and in a fun location. Not only is the place to stay free, but I don't even have to make the bed or run a vacuum....... a much deal than I get at home. Smile I have a dripping faucet? No more trips to Home Depo for parts. I simply pick up a phone and someone arrives to fix it for me...no charge. How about some things to do at my new home? A great swimming pool is available without all the maintenance and fuss. Need to do a little exercise? A workout room is a short walk away and I don't have to sign any health club contract, as it is all included in the free lodging. I am getting a little tired of cooking, but not to worry, as great restaurants are close by, with many of them offering great prices. Parking fees? None, in fact they will even park my car for me. Utilities bills? None- all included. Hauling that suitcase can be hard work. I can get someone to carry my bag to my room, and back to the free valet when I am ready to leave. Hey, the TV is better than I have at home, and it gets more channels.

I think I have found the life of luxury, and it is all free! There's got to be a flaw in my thinking.

My God, I think you just saved Reno. I'm definitely in. How about the rest of the board members? One big party! Don't miss out (There's only so many rooms). See you there.

P.S. Don't forget to get a P.O. box in Reno so you can pick up your free room offers for the folllowing month.

As with most things in life, if it seems too good to be true...

Here's the problem as I see it: The short walk to the gym. That's insane. They should give you a golf cart or a Segway to get there and back. Walk to the gym...right. Just too much to ask.

I think I found a minor flaw in my plan--- my wife and work. She is not too crazy about a 9 hour commute from Reno. I offered to give her lessons on how to install tire chains so she could do it herself, but it seemed the whole discussion just seem to end at that point.....?? Question Shocked

Us women can be so picky! Its sound great on paper, but I'm with her. A 9 hour commute is a killer. lol

For me the "commute" is somewhere between 14 to 17 hours. But if, once I'm there, I can live out my days on free room offers I won't be needing the car too much anymore.

The major flaw I see is.. I only get free room offers for a couple of days a month. (And that's in the off-season). The rest of the month could be spent sleeping by the river, outside the Cal Neva, or becoming a real nuisance around John's place.

You're always welcome here, Dave. Since you'd be sleeping on the futon, the birds would have an all night playmate.

John, that's a great offer. And I appreciate it very much. However I can't get that scene from Hitchcock's "The Birds" out of my mind. (You know the one with the eyes....or lack thereof).

Your eyes are safe with Higgins. You may lose a few toes, though.

That's very reassuring. Eyes intact and nightly pedicure. 5 star accommodation!

Is it just me or are we straying even further off the normal range of VisitReno topics?

I submit that we are "in range" - by definition, this board walks the walk outside the box up to 98% payback on selected machines.

It's all fair game; I'm looking forward to hearing Jerry's version of how he'll be administering his newly-found residency, between John's place, the fireside bar at the Peppermill, and whatever remains of the Siena.

Swede, I know you were probably being facetious, but I actually talked to a old couple who were doing just that with HET.

Seems they both maintained a Diamond level, (not hard to do if you play EVERY day, only about 33 tier pts a day). They traveled the entire HET world by car, staying in comp rooms, eating diamond lounge food, or using reward points for better stuff, seeing free shows, entering the tournaments.

They'd been doing it for years. I don't know if they had a home base, I would think you'd get sick of it all after a while.....

Oh, and with two accounts, you avoid the 5 day off requirement between offers.
