So im confused. Since the casinos serve food, does that mean that the casinos wont have any smoking?? Just want to make sure i understand.

Here, since our casinos are tribal smoking is still allowed. One of the casinos does have a non smoking section which is nice. I know Chinook Winds in Oregon has a tiny non smoking section as well.

The Tulalip Casino here in washington has the fancy air filtration system which helps alot with the smoke issue. There are vents all over the floor and that help circulate the fresh air in. If more places did that, it would be great. I think it is too costly though for most establishments.

If the public voted for it then thats what the public wants.

I will say though smoking and gambling do kinda go together, dont they? It is strange to see Nevada banning it i must admit. Its one of the last places i would expect that.

Poor Nevada becoming PC and Liberal. Happened to Oregon Years ago. As a ex-smoker I think designated smoking areas work just fine. Hell, how much do we need Mother Government? Let's see, we can ban Fudge, Sharp Blades and Thongs. Would we all then be thin, free from cuts and less distracted?

as an ex smoker, can you honestly say designated smoking areas in restraunts really work?? Anytime you go into a restraunt that has smoking, you can smell/taste the smoke. Unless you have an enclosed area for the smoking area, you can't avoid the smoke. Even when in a designated non smoking area. Your breathing it in still.

No smoking areas probably don't work. Just my humble opinion as I was addicted to the darn things for years. It is extremely hard to break the habit, so I have some sympathy for smokers. Likely I am from a different generation where smoking was the "in thing" common and done everywhere. However I do have very real problems with government trying to regulate dang near everything in our lives. Frankly I would like to see foo, foo perfume banned from Casinos. (Now I'm really in trouble.) Give me an old Reno Casino with Cigar Smoke surrounding the Craps Table any day over the foo, foo. (Now I'm really, really in trouble)

foo foo perfume. That is almost as bad as smoke. Some of the little old ladies that come in to work wear I swear a whole bottle of it. Make's me cough its so strong. I have the same problem with cigarette smoke.

I too was a smoker. I quite about 7 years ago. Being a non smoker you really notice the smell and what not alot more. I too have people that come in that reak of smoke so badly, I can't even begin to describe the smell. Its almost like they have smoked in the same clothes for a month, never washing them. Horrid.

Hate to say it, but I told you so....soon, perfume will be perceived as just as much of a "health" problem as cigarette smoke.

Just kidding. Of course. Gee you act like i am the only one hates cigarette smoke. Believe me i am not. Otherwise these bans would not be passing. I just happen to be one of the only vocal ones, beside Remano. Gee where are my supporters at???

You brough the foo foo perfume into pt he mix so i thought i would comment. Honestly i dont complain about this crap all the time. Im not one of those people. really. Just enjoying some chat with the board members.

somehow i cant see perfume smell being compared to deadly chemical filled cigarette smoke.....

While I can't stand the smell of cigarette smoke and I would love to see it banned I can totally see why people don't want the government to take control of cigarette smoke indoors. I think the thing that surprises me the most is that a Casino rather than have certain areas designated for the non smoker or smoker wouldn't just have a smoke free casino. Maybe I am naive but I think there would be a majority of gamblers that would love to gamble in a smoke free casino. Trust me I know that it is just part of the deal and I expect to go home reaking of cigarette smoke but it would be nice if you could find an area to gamble in that isn't so bad. As far as perfume goes sorry but that is like comparing Craps to slot machines I haven't heard any evidence of anyone dying from second hand perfume odor.
Yeah Alison when they passed that law here in WA the local card rooms were so upset because they have to abide by the law while the Indian Casinos don't have to. Not real fair! Just my two cents worth anyway.

Smoking will be allowed on the casino floors but not in the restaurants. I don't know what that means for a setup like the Cal Neva sportsbook deli, where the service counter adjoins the betting area and people eat the food while watching games in the sportsbook. It seems that is in one sense a restaurant and in another sense it's the casino.

Club Cal Neva had stopped smoking in their resturants before the law took effect. When we ate at the top deck on the 4th of July I was shocked to see the sign saying no smoking allowed in any resturants at Cal Neva. IN NEVADA!!!

However as of Turkey day smoking was allowed in the areas around the deli by their sportsbook. Which by the way has some great deals on junk food. 2 tacos and a beer two bucks. Chile cheese fries $2.25. It rivals the famous AWFUL AWFUL Burger.

I guess it just amazes me that with as much as we know about cigarette smoke and its effects, more people on this board arent in favor of it.

Initiative 901, 63.25% of the voters passed it here in Washington so people must be for it.
