Let me first report that all revelers returned home to the Portland, Oregon area with no injuries, citations, or Court Dates. Whooohoooo! Actually it was a rather calm group this year (might be the age thing), but we sure all had a helluva bunch of fun.
For Alison, sorry I forgot my camera, as we did get over to the Pep, but we were racing around trying to get a couple of anniversary gifts and my wife wanted to stop at the Pep Gift Shop for a item. The Valet Parking drive-in area was closed as they were working on the overhead area. However the Parking Garage was easy to use with a elevator taking you down to the Valet Area, and quick access to the Casino. The new Sports Bar was open and is huge and plush with a elevated Bar. We were there just a few minutes and headed out to the Mall to finish my wife's gift shopping. (The Old Mall on Virginia Street is Closing)
Anyway we arrived on SWA on Friday Night and headed to the Nugget to check in. By the time we arrived most of the group was well into partying and we had to communicate by hand signals. My wife and I decided to head to bed and let the lunatics be lunatics without our help.
After poking around the Casino and losing a few buck Saturday morning most of the Mob moved over to the Western Village in Sparks. Everyone seemed to have a great time playing $3 Single Deck and $1 Craps with a couple of the guys both wining a Grand on the BJ Tables. The Day Crew Manager introduced himself to most and invited us to the WV Steak House for Dinner. Let me say the Steak and Lobster was GREAT! Oh.......well I did lose my A*s on the WV $1 Craps Table. Now how can that Happen?
Later Saturday most of the group scattered and I ended up at the Nuggets Craps table, where I did lose my A*s.......yet again.
Sunday we kind of make a Lazy day, sticking around the room, (to keep away from the group drunks) and to get ready for the evening. We started the night at Harrahs Cafe Andreotti with their special 4 course New Years Eve Dinner. Without all the details, the dinner was wonderful, with a great desert made of a Chocolate Treasure Chest filled with all kinds of goodies. (A bunch of the ladies packed off these goodies for later in the eveing). We then attended the early Show At Harrah's "Let the Good Times Roll". Everyone (at least the older group) really enjoyed the Show. Next we hoofed it over to the Silver Legacy for the "Rock The Dome" New Years Eve Party. The Band was very good, the crowd great, and the booze did flow. The Party ended with the Fire Works and Confetti show in the Dome
We did have a heck of a good time.................the 16Th Straight New Years Eve in Reno.
Overall I lost my A*s, which is really kind of unusual, but it does happen. I did have a lot of fun on the 10 Times Odds game at the Siena. Played a couple of hours or more, and broke even.
We had a number of winners in the group, mostly Black Jack and a couple of $500 Dollar Slot winners. As for me.............well I lost my A*S.
That's just about it. Most of the Lunatics are already planning on next year. Yeah........I'm one of thoses Lunatics!

Thanks for letting me know about the Pep. So its looking pretty nice in there i take it?
Sounds like you had a fun trip, besides loosing you a*s. Unfortunately that happens sometimes. Makes it not quite as fun though.
I am tenetively headed to the Pep Feb 16th. I will take some pics and post them for anyone who might be interested.

That area that was under construction next to the sports book IS going to be a NY style deli. It is supposed to open next Friday, Jan. 12. |

For Alison and others I received a call last night from the Manager of the Steak House at the Pep. We had left a comment card on our trip in early December. He inquired about the problem and how we were treated. He apologized for the poor dinner and offered to meet us and have a great dinner at the Steak House on him. I was impressed that he followed up, was very gracious and next time will try to take up his offer. Yeah for the Peppermill!!!
By the way, one of the Gals took over $500 out of a Jackpot Party Machine at the WV. She said she hit 3 or 4 "Surprise Parties" which really paid well. I don't know anything about the dang machine, but she sure had fun on the thing.

Gald to hear that they acknowledged you and your problem with the steakhouse. I hope your free meal on them will be much better. I have always enjoyed it there.
I also love Jackpot Party!!! My absolute favorite. Glad to hear the girls won some money on it. |

Wow- 16 straight years of New Year's Eve in Reno. That sounds like a habit to me. Sorry to hear you lost your A*s at the tables. Normal anatomy gives you two cheeks, but I think you are claiming you lost three of them?
The new sportsbook sounds great at the Pepp. I got to get over there soon. |

Great Report Yo glad to hear you had fun. What are the odds on the $1 Craps table at WV? That sounds like a fun place to check out. I think I literally stumbled in there years ago when we were staying at the Nugget. I do remember liking it but I haven't been back since. Thanks again for the fun report.

Dave: Unfortunately the Western Village $1 Craps Table is only Double odds.
Blackjack was all single deck with standard Reno Rules. They did deal to the bottom of the deck. Heck you can play for $3 bucks a hand. They were also playing Royal Match for a additional buck.
We found the WV a few years ago when I think it was mostly a Truck Stop. Now the place is usually really jumping and is mostly locals and Truck Drivers. Inside the Casino is just like a mini Peppermill, and I believe the place is owned by the Peppermill as even the carpeting is the same. All kinds of the newest Slots were available. There was 9/6 VP on all of the Bar Tops. We actually rate the WV as the very best "Low Rollers" Casino in the Reno Area. Really a good place if you are on a low budget or have a bunch of young or new gamblers out for the first time. Heck, the Craps Tables in downtown, Harrahs and Eldoradao were $10 minimum bets. If you are going to play at those kind of mini's you best have a bunch of money on you, or you are toast in about 5 minutes.
Rooms at the WV are, well rooms. They really need help. The locations is right next to the Marina Lake, and great place to jog or walk.
Steak House at the WV was excellent!
IMHO best Craps Game in Reno is at the Siena, with 10 Times Odds. Mini was $2. $2 on the flat, and 20$ on the odds...........nice!

yes, the Pep sports book looks nice and is very popular.
However, we were unable to play there as the air is very bad from tobacco smoke already. You'd think new areas would be done better.
How-some-ever, if they open the deli in there (today?), they may have to eliminate the smoking, if they are to continue to comply with the new law.
We are now in Laughlin and the law is generally ignored. A few days ago, we went to the buffet at edgewater and the hostess asked, "Smoking or no?". That floored us. The law is toatlly in effect (except for criminal penalties) everywhere since Dec 22, but some refuse to recognize it.
The Brew Pub at 'Colo Belle tho is now non-smoking as welll as an area outside it.
Freezing cold here. Vegas is expecting 2 inches of snow today. Single digits (or below zero) all over NV.
We are drycamped in our motor home and between hotel stays for the weekend. We'll freeze tonite and both of us are still sick - now 3 weeks for me.
And that is your Southern NV report for today.,
The good news is that I played softball this week and plan to travel next week for some games. |

I was there for lunch today and workers were just doing the final clean-up, wiping down the counter, cleaning the glass in the display case and such. There were no food products in sight and no menu or prices posted. Today is the advertised opening date but it's going to be late today if at all. The former sports book area is now full of new slot machines.
Most of the places I've checked are telling smokers to use their own judgment on whether to smoke inside. They won't kick you out for lighting up, but they have posted "no smoking" signs and removed all ash trays. They feel that covers their responsibility and if an individual smoker wants to risk getting ticketed, that's up to him. It seems to be working, though. Most smokers prefer to go outside rather than to tap their ashes into their pants cuffs. |

Gee........maybe one of these bright Casino Executives will come up with a outside Smoking Area, complete with Slots and a BJ Table. You never know!
Maybe they do it already. |

Say Jerry.............if you get by that damn litte Craps Table at the Edgewater, say hello to my money for me. I've taken a "Bath" or two in that Tub.
My wife loves to play VP at the Edge at the Bar overlooking the River. You could go by there, and say hello to my wife's money.
Well you probably don't need to waste your time, as my guess is my money isn't sitting there very lonely.
We really like Laughlin, but ZERO just doesn't sound like the Laughlin I know.
Have Fun, be safe, get warm, and get well.

The title is kind of a pun for Stan's benefit.
I have visited your wife's ;money at the Edge Bar and some of mine is now deposiited along with hers.
When I sat down, the Progressive was very low. I asked and they said it had been hit 4 times in 3 hours at the bar. So, I stayed 3 hours and no one hit it.
Checking in there next week for 3 free nights. Just left 5 nights at the Belle. The Boiler Room/Brew Pub is totally packed even though it is totally non-smoking and ENFORCED.
Still cold and very windy. All locals say it is the coldest and windiest they have encountered. Even softball was cancelled twice this week. |

Obviously you have never heard of the 3 Hour Rule. Rule simply states if any progressive is hit in any 3 hour period, no other Progressive hit will be allowed to anyone who plays Softball. Sorry, I should have told you sooner.
It is comforting knowing my wife's money now rests with other friendly money. Actually, that is a lie.
Have a great trip, and get some of that Edgewater Money. It spends real well.
