I'm down here in the valley, looking up at the snow covered hills, reading about the incredible snow fall, the impassable roads, and thinking, how come I'm not stuck on the other side?

renolady,
I too am on the wrong side of the mountains. I am in denver looking at the snow-covered streets. about 5 inches yesterday and just one of the interstate pile-ups was over 40 cars - they were absolutely demolished. Yet no one died.

and, to think, I left warm, sunny, 70 degree Laughlin for this. Laughlin with its fantastic brew-pub and cheap food. Yet, I shall return soon.

Had a check-up today and doc said I was 4 gallons of beer short in my sytem from the 4 days in denver.

It's amazing how a snow fall in the Sierra's is all that is good. It's picturesque, full of winter sports fun, and surrounds some of my favorite things, (drinking and gambling). The pesky little road closures and chain-ups are only an annoyance if you're trying to GET there, but make a good excuse for that extended stay.

We didn't feel that way about it when it was a regular winter occurrance in both our Washington and Kansas City stints.
