Somebody help me! I can't figure out how to vote. Anyway.....

You know, I think it's circular. If the casinos cut back on offers, specials, gambling odds, then I'll go less. As will others, which will make the casinos cut back more, making us go even less.

It's the old business conundrum, when business is bad, they cut back everywhere, including marketing, when they should actually be INCREASING the marketing efforts to get more business. Once in a while there is a break-out thinker during these times, and they survive.

Will someone please tell me how to vote?

Oh, I know HOW to vote...I just cannot figure out which category option describes me.

I tend to visit Reno when I'm not working many hours and I have unused vacation time.

But recently, I've been working massive overtime...(big paychecks) but cannot take time off from work.

So unlike conventional wisdom of "....oh business is down so fewer people spend their money on gambling vacations....", My conundrum is, " My paychecks are too big to take time off from work right now. I'll take time off when business slows down and I'm back to working only 40 hours/week".

Now how to I vote?

As long as the Atlantis keeps sending me the incentives for 2 nights in the luxury tower or concierge tower...I'll spend 6 to 8 hundred a month there. I'll just cut down a few bingo nights at Colusa Indian Bingo.

OK, JD. To vote, select the most obvious option. You may have to look at them again.

Well said, Reno lady, unfortunately they have no one in authority in marketing as smart as you and me (and I'll even include Stan).

It's funny I was actually thinking of offering my advice to some of them after the recent mailings, and lack thereof for some. For instance:

I got a really cool postcard/style flier from circus; it was "variable printing" so it had my name written in the clouds, on the front of the postcard. On the inside it mentioned my first name again, my town and told me to go to my own personal website, again in my name. 4 sides of text, and I had to search several times for the offer, there it was, in the smallest of print, two free nights. I easily could have missed it.

The same day I got a 4 color postcard from Fandango. They used about 25 words, offering me this lousy plastic green ink pen, IF I showed up on a certain date, at a certain time. I laughed out loud. The other side of the postcard was completely blank. They could have mentioned their new restaurants, theatre, hotel, whatever.

Yeah, I work in marketing here at the university, so I'm a little critical of how they market. AND I think I know something about gamblers, as I spend WAY more time with it that one probably should. However, I doubt they're want to listen to me, casino owners marketing decisions seem to be based on the money they have in the bank at the time, or some anecdotal stuff from a neighbor or Aunt Mabel.
