I'll be landing in Reno for the very first time in just one week. Very Happy

Any last minute notes of advice for this Reno newbie? Anything I just shouldn't miss? Places I just gotta eat?

Alice

The Awful Awful burger would be the one crowning item you are not supposed to leave Reno without having consumed.

It's in the Nugget on Virginia Street - you may already have been counseled on this one, but it's quintessential Reno.

If you like Italian cuisine don't miss La Famiglia on E. First St. at Lake St., on the downtown side of the river across from the Siena. It's small and popular so reservations are usually necessary.

Be sure to check out Shooters. If you like old cars, try the National Auto Museum (discount coupon available on visitreno.com) There's a pretty nice planetarium on the UNR campus with shows almost daily. Stroll along the River Walk downtown and try to get by Rancho San Rafael. "Real Magic" at the Magic Underground beneath Pioneer Theater for the Performing Arts - Kalin and Jinger are world class magicians. If you like real thrills, ride the 160' tall swing at the Grand Sierra.

I know it sounds like I'm pimping Cal-Neva, but ya gotta see this too.

Don't be put off by its age, smells or customers; circle the many pits, in the different buildings/floors, and note the $3 and $5 minimums AND the favorable rules associated.

Check out the sports room and specials, ALL the eateries and good deals. They really are all pretty good.

The gambling conditions are one of the things that separate it from that "other" Nevada city down south......

Well let's see..... First an Awful Awful burger, and then head over to the 160' swing and finish it off with a trip to Shooters.

You might be sending the gal home via ambulance. Very Happy

Thanks everyone. I don't know about getting on any sort of terrifying swing after a gigantic burger, but I'm sure I'll have fun no matter what I end up doing. I'll post a full TR when I return. Very Happy

nice. Be sure to let me know how the room is. Which tower are you in? East or West? I am thinking of staying there one night, just to be downtown.

I'll let you know which one I'm in after I return. I think I'm in East, but with the comp who knows... Either way, it's my first trip to Reno and I am very excited.

If you have not done so yet, you should register your total rewards card online thru Harrhas site.

It keeps you posted on any upcoming offers and lets you know your point balance.

I was not showing as having any offers, but when i logged in and tried to reserve a room "just to see' it came up comped.

Just a fyi......

Have fun! How many days will you be there?
